an entire portable OS on a USB shtick!

today i was scavenging the PortableApps.com forums for a portable edition of any sort of VMWare so i could try out Windows eXPerience on my Deck.

i didn't find much (it's still unclear to me if what i did find was VMWare or a LIVECD/USB tester), but anyway, i found QEMU-Puppy, which carries PortableApps' idea of "Your apps, personalized, on any computer, anywhere, without messing with others' computers", and turns that into "Your ENTIRE OS, anywhere, on any computer without messing with others' computers AT ALL"!

AAND it can either boot or run itself as a custom VM, bundled right in, as an .exe or a .sh! And it saves what you do back to whatever removable you use (if it's still in, because it runs entirely within RAM, so you can take it out)! And it's PuppyOS! It's so beautiful, I will never see anything the same way again. I will die peacefully knowing you can run an entire OS either via booting from your removable or as a custom VM of itself, without needing to install, personalized to itself. And it's so SMALL!! When I tried to get the eXPerience iso it took me half-an-hour, but this took less than 5 seconds! All I need is to find out how to run .sh on a chromebook (so I don't need to use my school's provided, super-slow Google Drive to get files across, to get them on the Deck, to open them) and I can pass my programs and files and such back and forth forever!

Today is a good day!
